Him Lam Corporation began construction of a bridge in HCMC’s District 7 on Sunday which will shorten the distance from fringe districts to the city center.
Him Lam Bridge is being built in Tan Hung Ward and in Binh Hung Commune in Binh Chanh District to span the Ong Lon River and link Nguyen V? trí ??t qu?ng cáoThi Thap Street to the recently opened Nguyen Van Cu Street.
The developer said the infrastructure project required around VND279 billion which would come out of the corporation’s budget.
Him Lam Bridge is designed to be 514 meters long and 20 meters wide and have a vertical clearance of six meters. The life span of the bridge is expected to be 100 years.
Him Lam says it committed itself to the project while it was developing the Him Lam-Kenh Te New Urban Area in HCMC’s District 7 and that it will manage the bridge which is scheduled to open within two years. The bridge will shorten the distance from District 7 and Binh Chanh, Nha Be and Can Gio districts to the city center and share the traffic burden with existing bridges by creating a new route for vehicles toward District 5 and District 10.
The developer has high hopes that the new bridge will entice residents to move to the south of the city and ease the population pressure on the central districts.
