Hanoi authorities have decided on the fates of the 19 golf course projects in the city. Accordingly, ten projects will be cancelled. Five others have received approval to be implemented alongside the four operational projects.
The ten projects that have been rejected are: the Me Tri Sports and Entertainment Centre with a 9-hole golf course, located next to the National Convention Centre; the Tuan Chau Ha Tay eco-tourism and entertainment centre’s 18-hole golf course; the Temple Lake Golf & Resort Chuong My; the Cam Quy Lake golf-resort-entertainment centre; the Me Linh residential area – golf course; the Dong Suong Lake golf course; the Phu Man golf course; the Long Bien golf course; the Thanh Tri golf course; and the Meo Gu golf course.
Notably, the Tan Vien international tourism zone, which will take up 1205 ha of land, is being allowed to proceed. However, only the first phase of investment was approved, with the construction of an 18-hold golf course, a resort, a club and villas on 158 ha.
The four other golf projects permitted to proceed are: the Soc Son golf course, the Long Bien golf course and service zone, the Quan Son Lake eco-tourism and residential area and a golf course inside the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.
Hanoi authorities said that the five above projects meet the city’s requirements. However, the city will keep an eye on these projects to ensure investors use land properly.
However, the government will make the final decision on the destinies of these golf courses after consulting ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
